Me needs a chilla

Justin,
Go new. I've had my crap experiences with used chillers and so have a few friends.
Chillers that are shipped used can also be a 50/50 chance since the original styro block that keeps the internals from bouncing around is usually not there. Refrigerant leaks due to shipping is common and not always repairable.

I would consider picking one up from Tony cause if he has it in stock, it's probably pallet shipped to him.

Also,
Sounds like you might be oversizing your chiller requirements by a good amount.
Oversizing is good, better than undersizing since that scenerio would constantly kick your chiller on and off. But when you oversize too much, then the efficiency can be lost from the amount of amperage needed to run a big unit.

That being said, Pacific Coast does have a 1 hp 220v unit running at 10 amps with a db of 60:

Well, I have about 600g water volume now, so I figured that was about right.

Why is this "hobby" so expensive. ??

Yeah, I think you should quit and get out before you are too deep into it, I'll take a few things off your hands:lmao:

lol--I don't seem to have that problem anymore ;)

You go Jan!

Best days in a Man's life ...

1) When he gets his first boat
2) When he sells his last

Aquaria is still cheaper, but catching up quick. Thank god for algae, otherwise I'd feel bad having an expensive empty box of moving water.

I would go with Aqualogic chillers. I have used them for years, from 1/4hp to 20hp (thats not a typo... 20hp).
Doug is one of the nicest guys in the industry, they make a great chiller and stand by their product.
I'm not sure of pricing, but reliability is key and ease of service if something were to go wrong.
If anyone else is looking for a chiller, we may be able to work something out with them, especially with shipping.
He has donated two chillers with digital controllers to LIRA (one for each NERAC) as well.

Justin i can add a third
3 when a man gets a new motor for the one he blew up! I guess that would be number 2 LOL You dont know of anyone selling a decent 140 to 150 motor do you? Preferably a Merc?

I have a 21' Mako CC w/ a newish (1999) engine on her.

TRailer too. Maybe 500hrs on engine. Evinrude 175 OceanPro (non FI, which suck IMO)

$6000 if you want the whole package.

FWIW, I bought this boat in 1996 (its an old Mako hull, 1977), and went through 4 "used" engines before I decided to just buy new.

That being said, I have a friend who bought a boat and then repowered. Had a 175 Mariner I think. I'm sure he'd sell for close to nothing. It ran, but out here we run long distances, and I convinced him to shelve it, and get a new one. It's different losing power 20 miles from the point at 4 in the afternoon. Very very scary.

Joe, That would be great. I have been getting great reviews of their chillers, and was leaning that way.

Anyone else need a chiller??

BTW, Nice "shark dive" commercial. Well done, and you look great. Weird seeing yourself on tv, isnt it?

Aqualogic Chiller

Aqualogic Chiller

I'd like to second that opinion with Aqualigic. I just purchased one a few months back and am very pleased. I have been in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning industry for the last 25 years and was really pleased with the construction.

Thanks, they actually used my improv line as I was getting frustrated with some things that were taking place during the filming and "Joe" came to the surface...

"These pretzels are making me thirsty" was my other line...

Regarding the chiller, besides the compressor quality, the other main thing is the quality of the heat exchanger, and theirs is titanium. Others may not be as a construction cost saving which you don't see.
Joe

the only compressors you want to try and find are a tecumseh or a copeland. that way if the compressor fails it is easy and available to cross reference at a local hvac supplier.
