Measurements on 90 Gal tanks please

I am going to be setting up an old 55 gal tank I have had for awhile now. I will be building a custom stand and canopy for it. The reason for my asking for measurements, is I would like to get a bigger tank down the road and would like to build the stand once. I know I will have to build a new canopy at that time, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it. Hopefully I can sell the canopy on a local forum at that time and recoup some of that money then.
So anyway, if I could get some dimensions of 90 gal tanks I would greatly appreciate it.
I know what some of you are thinking already, "why don't you just get a 90 gal now and save the headache later"? well, If I do it in stages the wife doesn't get so freaked out. I have the tank and lumber already. So I already told her it is going to be a cheap set up.

Thanks for the reply's. My 55 footprint is 48X12. So am I safe to assume that most 90 gal tanks are 48X18? I can just build it 6 or 7 inches deeper.

Ill offer this.........If you can swing it, I would build a stand for a 120 if you are looking ot the future. Only difference is 24" of depth, and an immense amount of better aquascaping possibilites.

my 225 is 30" wide....and my 90 18" wide......and the 18" wide kinda sucks to be honest if you ever have the pleasure of working with more

I like the way you think, flyyyguy. That is a great idea.
Does anyone have any advice on how to fill the open areas on the stand until I upgrade? Or a cool way to build the stand so the wife doesn't get to suspicious.

I've seen this done a few times in the past. Build the canopy L-shaped on the side so that it drops down behind the tank as well as running along the top. This also gives you a good space to mount controllers and hide wires in. This also gives you an opportunity to hack off the downward portion of the stand in the future to fit the larger tank underneath it.
