media required for an oversized Korallin C-10002 reactor

I want to put into service a Korallin c-10002 calcium reactor (I already own it and its old but never used) which is designed for a 3,000 gallon tank. My reeftank is 600 gallons with a 75 gallon refugium and roughly 125 gallons in my sump which is only a 1/4 or so of the reactors design. The instructions say to use 44# of media. I don't think I need to use that much media to accomplish a high level of calcium and alkalinity. The reactor comes with an Eheim 1260 which will provide over abundant circulation. Any thoughts besides putting in only about 11# of media, measuring and add more if I see my Ca and Alk levels too low?

Thanks

The amount of media inside the reator has nothing to do with "I don't think I need to use that much media to accomplish a high level of calcium and alkalinity" the amount simply represnts how often you will have to replace it... The levels are accomplished through tinkering with the effluent mix... dont expect the reactor to raise your Ca+ levels... it will simply hold the levels....once you get them where you want them

thanks for the advice....I knew that somewhere in the dark regions of my brain, but it's been a while since I last set up a Ca reactor and the size of this monster and German cryptic instructions made me think that this could be something out of the norm. I appreciate the feedback.

Yes the instructions left a bit to be desired... I have just finished setting up a 4002... nice But I am still learning... Much more complex than I originally thought
