Meeting Idea's

We have kicked around the thought of having a meeting every since we got our new name here on Reef Central. Since we will be a year old in March I think it is time to make this happen. Anyone else interested? If so, lets start brain storming here.

I'm thinking the first meeting should be just a meet and great. We can put names with faces and talk about our hobby we all share. Since I don't know of any good places I'm proposing maybe a restaurant and do a dinner. As for location since we are spread out seemingly from Charleston to OH and KY I'm suggesting maybe Taeys Valley or Bourbousville.

cool. soon is better. Once March rolls around it's track season, and I won't be available until June.

Just my 2 cents.

How many folks do you think might show? We have 6 in this thread and maybe by the time this happens we might pick up another 4? I cannot imagine more than a dozen showing up but I'd like to be proven wrong.

I still think Teays Valley/Hurricane would be the most central location for most but I don't know of a good place down that way. Potentially Applebees but that place can get so loud at times it might not be a good place to chat. My bike club had meetings at Panera Bread out South Ridge (near Charleston) which worked out nice. They have a room sort of separate that they let clubs use while dinning but it was pretty good size area. If we do end up being a small party they may not reserve that extra room for us.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

As for when I figure February is as good of a time as any.

I would suggest a more private venue -- maybe reserve a meeting room at a local public library or a state office building conference room.

Your welcome to use my house to meet. I live near Wallmart on Corr G.
1st topic:
See what happens to a reef with 3 days of no power and 50 degree temps.

Our club is not matured enough to be declared non-profit or not. The fees for libraries and state conference rooms could exist.
You haven't paid your dues yet. LOL

Could we meet on a Saturday - just because.

Well i don't if you all would agree or not, but buffalo wild wings in southridge has a private room for groups and meetings. It could be a good place. I don't know how much they charge or anything.

Ah cool. Maybe the new BWW over at cross lanes would be open by then.

Yeah it might be, but I don't know. We really need to elect some officials, and that way we can get things more organized. I really just do not know the best way to do that, anyone have any ideas?

Agenda:
If we are not careful the meeting will start here on the thread. Even the topic of should we elect officials might need to be discussed first. I suggest we pick a time and place then at the meeting the topics can begin to be addressed. I have already started my own list of things I would like discussed. How about everyone that plans on attending send me the topics they want to talk about and I can compile them into an agenda for the initial meeting? If someone else would prefer to handle this that would be fine by me too.

Meeting Minutes:
We probably need a volunteer for someone to take notes during the meeting. That way we won't forget the details.

Location:
Again I'm figuring only 6-12 will show. Would that work for the BWW meeting room? If so, I'm game. Other suggestions are still welcome too. We just need to pick a place ASAP.

When:
Lets tackle this after we pick the location.

Red Lobster in Charleston has a back room that holds 16. I use to work there, but you would have to go on a weekday mon-fri and stay no longer than 2 hours.
