Meeting Raffle Items

I have suggestion for what I consider to be an improvement in the club.

I've noticed that members who are hosting the meetings are also purchasing raffle items, or providing frags for raffles. I think the raffles are great and they're fun. I do not want to stop the raffles, but I would like to stop having the meeting's host purchase raffle items.

It's enough of an expense hosting a meeting that the host should not have to purchase raffles items. I think members who are attending should be responsible for any and all raffle items. If you want to purchase something for the raffle or bring a frag, great. If you have a decent piece of used equipment, clean it up and bring it, great. But I do not like the idea of the host supporting the raffle in any manner.

Those who are attending the meeting could post in the thread they are attending and any raffle items/frags they are bringing.
This is not to say you have to purchase a raffle item to attend, merely post if you're bringing one.

Thoughts?

Sounds reasonable! That Being said, I will be bringing an Item to be raffled off at the next meeting and I think it would be worth it to be there...anyone can win! :-)

It doesn't have dinos does it?

I was just going to say the same thing. Anybody having this problem or any other problem(explained or unexplained)should not be bringing anything from their tanks. You wouldn't want to infect other's tanks with this dilemma. Apparently they spread very easily, cross-contamination being one of the ways. Have a good one guys.

Don't feel bad Pat, we all have had dirty partners in the past. We won't make you wear a hazmat suit. Have a good one bud, do you want me to bring the other bulbs you gave me back up to you or just pick them up during the meeting? I switched back to the 14K's for now, until I get the 400wt'ers going.

now my feelings are hurt.....my tank has an STD
Folks, we can take a lesson from this. Sexual contact with your reef tank, equipment or, a'hem... plumbing, is generally frowned upon and can have unforseen consequences.

Is this what is meant by "plumber's butt" ?

I thought it was plumber's crack? Ahh, it doesn't matter. I wouldn't want to get hooked on either one.
On the subject of buying corals for raffles, I think Steve is right. If you are buying corals or frags just to make people happy for being there or for them to think you are a good host ( in which you already are for having the meeting), then they don't need to be there. Eventually, I'll be hosting a meeting. I'm in the process of re-doing my house and things are still pretty messed up. If you all don't mind a disorganized house and the smell of a very large dog, then I could host a meeting.
Another thing, when I buy beef, I buy a half a cow. So when I do host a meeting, guess what you'll be eating? I'm not trying to compete with people's hospitality nor trying to impress anybody. I have always bought meat this way and it doesn't make sense to go out and buy other things when this is in the freezer. Anyway, when somebody can't host a meeting, I will try to fit it in some weekend. I have a horseshoe pit, a pavilion, and a playground, so bring the kids!! The last time I had a party, the neighbor called the cops, so curfew is at 10pm if you are drinking. I live a good ways off from everybody else, so I'll do the best I can to make it worth the trip. And parking is not an issue.
