Melafix Treatment

Our CORAL BEAUTY ANGEL has a sore on it's side and it was rubbing against rocks, etc. Per the suggestion of my trusted LFS, they suggested pulling all carbon and treating with API MELAFIX for 7 days. Followed by a 25% water change. We are into day three and it actually looks WORST and she has been hanging around our skunk shrimp ALOT and he jumps on and goes right after the spot.

Parameters are all good. All other fish are fine. Even she eats great and seems normal otherwise going around the skunk shrimp a lot more than normal.

Do you all think I should continue to allow them together and is it the kind of thing that it will get worst before it gets better? The sore is slightly red in the middle and white around the edges, about the size of a small pea.

Any advice is appreciated! :headwallblue:

Melafix doesn't do anything IME. I don't know why it continues to be recommended. It sounds like you may have a bacterial infection. A broad-spectrum antibiotic (I prefer kanamycin like Seachem Kanaplex) would be the treatment of choice, but it will need to be administered in a dedicated hospital tank.

Post a picture if you can.
