Melanarus wrasse rules

Mine is still pretty new, didn't even know they sometimes eat the asterina stars! That's awesome! Actually, thinking about it, I haven't seen any in the past few days. I used to manually remove about 20 every 3 days, what a pain.

Mine has not messed with my snails. It has taken a shot at hermits, but now leavs them alone. As long as he doesn't eat my snails all is good!

I have one as well, he's been in the tank for about a year, gone from 1" to at least 5" maybe 6". We have a love/hate relationship, I love that he keeps the bristle worm population down as well as the asterina stars, I haven't seen a amphipod in months but he attacks and kills my snails, killed my crabs and shrimp, picks at the clam, pulls zoas from the rock and harasses powder blue (once was the king of the tank), every time my clowns lay eggs he treats himself to a free meal ;). I have tried to catch this guy and wouldn't mind if he carpet surfed but unless I drain the tank or trap him somehow he's in the tank for the long haul...

Very easy to catch. Wait until night and watch him to find out where he burries himself. Put a net over and dig with your hand underneath slowly. It'll come out straight up in your net. I did that to mine (twice) when it was getting harassed by a sixline. Catching the sixline was a bit harder, it required 3 days of baiting a trap...
