Melanurus Wrasse in a barebottom 50g?

I have a 3 foot long 50g tank that is barebottom with about 50lbs of live rock, 2 clowns, 1 flame hawkfish, and 1 purple pseudochromis. Would a melanurus work? I've heard different things such as a sandbed being required.

Thanks

I agree.

Look into fairies and flashers instead, since they don't need sand.

That dottyback may be a problem to new wrasses though.

Thanks for the info guys! I don’t necessarily have to go with a wrasse. I don’t have a purple dortyback. I believe the pseudochromis is technically a different species. Mine is very docile and peaceful. Rather shy actually.

Any of you have recommendations? I would like the final fish added to be a flame angel. I am well aware they are 50/50 with coral. Looking for one other fish. Figured a wrasse would be cool, but am open to other ideas. Not sure I am a huge fan of the flasher/fairy wrasses color patterns

Dottyback and pseudochromis are synonymous ;)

Flame angel should be fine. You can consider a banggai cardinal or a pair.

Gotcha, thanks. Not really interested in the Banggai's. I will look into some of the flasher/fairy wrasses. Could also think about a blenny?
