Hey Marc, I have a question for you because I know you did some experimenting with the pumps on your EuroReef Skimmer.

I have a EuroReef CS8-3 that is currently an external skimmer with a Sedra 5000 recirculating pump and a Mag5 feed pump. I have an older picture of the skimmer showing the feed configuration and location here:

In a few months here I am moving and upgrading systems. Since I will finally be able to have a fish room I want to have the skimmer inside my sump and I also want to not use a dedicated feed pump. Do you think I could add a second fractionating pump (either EuroReef's Eheim or Sedra) in a feed cinfiguration and keep my current Sedra as a recirculating fractionator (Basically upgrade my skimmer into a two-pump model)? Would this increase my skimmer's production? If so, do you know where I can get the pump and uniseal to make this work? Any other thoughts about my idea?

Thanks Marc.....how many do you use on your 280 DT? I was thinking on setting up (4) UVL SA to supplement my 250w MH. Is that too many or a good fit on a 180-gl. sps dominant setup?

I appreciate your help in any info for supplementation.

I have two VHO bulbs and three MH bulbs over my 6' long tank. I would think you only need two bulbs for your tank, but perhaps you have a reason to think you need four?

Euro-reef / Reef Dynamics will have the pumps and uniseals in stock. Running two pumps on there should work, assuming it doesn't put too much foam in the reaction chamber.

i might be buying a 72in fixture that has 3 250wt MH and 4 96wt PC bulbs in it and i might have to "borrow" your light schedule Marc! :D
thanks

Just make sure you have Astroglide on hand for emergencies with your skimmer. A half used 5-year old bottle is most helpful.
