Chromis count: 8. One seems to have vanished.

:(

I'd really like to know where have my snails gone?

This evening I took a little time to scrape the back glass clean. While doing that, I moved a couple of corals, stared at the vivid colors of several SPS pieces, and plucked out some neon star polyps & my ultra rare  red mushrooms.

I also noticed that the pretty A. sarmentosa I got from Gabriel was RTNing as well, which doesn't surprise me one bit since the huge Acro next to it was imploding. (Take out anyone you can as you die theory) :mad2:

I did come across a blue chromis in the skimmer section, which I caught and returned to the reef. I do not know if that was missing #9 or not, but hopefully will get a full head count in the next couple of days.

Hey Marc! Thanks for the photo box... I snapped a couple quick shots last night. I still have to figure out a good way of using it, as I lose a lot of light when I pivot the hood up (a downfall of T5's I guess, I've got to move them to get any access to the tank... I may try to spin the reflectors to point down when pivoted up). Here's a quick shot of a little birdsnest that I've got. Next round I'll try to get some better pictures.

Good shot.

What you could do is buy another MH fixture. Clip it on the tank for topdown shots, then store it until next time, or use it over your quarantine tank for new SPS & clam arrivals. ;)

Awesome shot!! I did a few topdown shots a few days ago...they turned out ok....

After taking the shots and posting them I realized I should have blown the monti's off as there is a little detritus on them. My SCWD crapped out on me a couple of weeks ago so I have reduced flow over bot caps.

Sorry to hear about the frag Marc. I actually just sold the rest of that colony on Sat. so I won't be able to replace it for you. I can definitely get you something else though when you come down again. I hear rumors that May will be the next time.

Another implies that I've owned MH sometime in the past, which would be untrue! But I've thought about taking the plunge for some frag grow out, so we'll have to see.

Yes, it is getting close to the next split.

So as the stunning coral disintegrated over the past 48 hours, I began to worry about that RTN tissue flowing through my system. Had my skimmer been running, I wouldn't give it a thought, but I'm treating the tank with Red Slime Control to wipe out the cyano bacteria you probably noticed on my rockwork.

So what to do? I grabbed some filterfloss I've had in the garage for 5+ years, a scrape of 3/8" acrylic to act as a wedge or brace, and created a floss barrier to capture that crap floating through the water.

In this picture, look what it trapped in a mere 24 hours. :eek2:

I can't wait to do a 55g water change and fire up my skimmer again.

My quarantine tank is getting a little full. I picked up the frag of my Tyree LE coral that I'd banked with TCU_reefer, and look forward to seeing it grow in the coming months.

how long have the skimmer been off line and how often do you run it? may i come by to help you clear out the QT so new arrivals will be happier :D

The skimmer has been offline for about 72 hours. I wanted to make sure the cyano got hit hard.
