Here's the video of food processor that Evan helped fix.

So as the stunning coral disintegrated over the past 48 hours, I began to worry about that RTN tissue flowing through my system. Had my skimmer been running, I wouldn't give it a thought, but I'm treating the tank with Red Slime Control to wipe out the cyano bacteria you probably noticed on my rockwork.

So what to do? I grabbed some filterfloss I've had in the garage for 5+ years, a scrape of 3/8" acrylic to act as a wedge or brace, and created a floss barrier to capture that crap floating through the water.

In this picture, look what it trapped in a mere 24 hours.

I can't wait to do a 55g water change and fire up my skimmer again.

My quarantine tank is getting a little full. I picked up the frag of my Tyree LE coral that I'd banked with TCU_reefer, and look forward to seeing it grow in the coming months.

do you normally keep it offline or just when cyano appears?

It runs 24/7, except if I have to treat the system with a product.

If you just keep your tank running for a few years and document all the associated events that have occurred, you too can have a few splits.

Gratz on split #11 (and I've actually read all 11 splits, although I don't post very much) The reef is looking great. I do have a request. Next time you do a FTS, can you back up and take a shot from floor to ceiling please? I enjoy seeing the full effect a tank has on the room.

Marc,

I heard AJ is coming up to visit. Super nice guy, sold him some stuff. Be sure and ask about some of his experiences in Iraq.

Just lives a few miles from me. If I didn't already have a booked weekend, I might see if I could have joined him.

I was doing some research and I usually start with your website and what you have running on your tank. Are you happy with your little giant? My wife and I are going to be putting in a 180 in the next couple of months and I'm starting to collect equipment for the upgrade. I'm looking for a good quiet and effecient inline pump for my return. I don't know that I will need quite the monster you have but I want to do something similar to how you have yours setup. Also where to you get your acrylic from? Do you get it locally or do you order it from somewhere?

Yes, the Little Giant pump is working well. I briefly used a Sequence Dart, but after three weeks it apparently blew a seal, so the Little Giant was reinstalled. I got the new seals two days ago, so I have to figure out how to replace those to get the pump functional again.

A Sequence Snapper is a slightly smaller pump, using less power and providing as much as 2500gph, vs 3600gph (Dart).

I get my acrylic from Allied Plastics.
