Thanks Korrine. Do you have a thread about your tank? Link me.

It's not really anything impressive at all yet...hope to be someday. I'm waiting for a shipment of uncured live rock to come in so it can be cured. Then I'll have about 20lbs more rock. I think I'll concentrate on LPS although I like zoa's and such too.

Great shots Melev :D Makes me wish my tank was ready for corals

Power outages are one of my fears :(

That's great that he's breeding mandarins. They are such fun great looking fish that are so often abused by improper care. I've cotemplated buying pods from drsfoster/smith so supplement my tank so I can keep one in my 29g.

I had a large male mandarin in my 29g for about two years I think. The tank needs to be well established, and have plenty of live rock to pick through. My 29g was packed with rock and pods, plus I had a refugium full of pods connected to it.

And that mandarin even ate pellet food, much to my delight:

I should have around 20ish lbs of uncured rock coming from PA as soon as it clears customs. Problem is they don't have any arriving for a little while. That would give me maybe around 40-45 lbs of live rock. Of course it'll be cured separately first. Don't want to kill my current inhabitants. After a long while I may try a mandy.

So did yours die, did you sell it or move it to a different tank?

Wow - you nano thread is only a few posts away from its first split! Waiting in anticipation...

How are the corals you dipped looking? We're also waiting on a new tank shot with the pump moved to its new location.

I like how you change your avatar too!!

It's more fun that way for me. I used to have the same avatar for years and years, and years. This is confusing some people big time.

If the tank has had time to mature, like 9 months or more, and it is full of pods with no other pod-eating fish that share that same food source, you may be able to do the same.

That mandarin was moved to my 280g reef, as well as some others. I had 4 in that tank for a year or two. I'm down to a single one at this time. Just a small Psychedelic female that seems fat and happy.

The one from the angled tank completely went up in smoke. The other is still suffering from brown jelly disease, even though a patch is still alive. I think it too will die soon. :(

I'm looking forward to trying out the MP10 when it comes out.

When it gets to the end of 40 pages is when it splits? I've wondered about that.

1000 posts / 40 pages is when a thread splits.

a what a great read, took me a couple of hours but well worth it.
its a great looking tank and eventho they are not black, the onyx clowns are very nice looking lol
did you ever figure out what was chomping on the serpent star?

Perhaps it was one of those bright orange worms that kill snails? I caught one in that tank about a month ago. I don't know.

this is going awhile back but i found it interesting about the snakehead cowrie you have that might eat cyno.

i have a cowrie(reticulated i think) that i keep in the sump/fuge after it started chomping on my softies polyps. i get cyno on the glass from time to time and i see him working on it untill its gone.

kudora i have a cowrie in my refugium that was munching on my zoas in DT......its been thriving there since for about a year
