Melinaris wrasse

I want to get the melinaris wrasse because its so beautiful. I also know hes reef safe but i was told he would eat my inverts. I have a few crabs. A arrow crab, porcelain crab and like 10 hermit crabs. 1 skunk shrimp and 3 snails. Do you think I could still add the wrasse?

I had an especially evil melanurus wrasse in my old 75g reef who killed off the following inverts...
- Scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp (bashed it to death, but never ate the body)
- Peppermint shrimp
- Cerith Snails
- Turban snails
- Mexican Turbo Snails
- Nassarius Snails
- The occasional blue leg hermit crab (he may have wiped them out, I don't remember for sure)

... He also killed my leopard wrasse, pencil wrasse and possum wrasse, so they DO have the potential to be aggressive and predatory. That being said, I know plenty of people who have kept them for years without complaint. So good luck

I have one in my 300g mixed reef. He's a model citizen...doesn't mess with any inverts at all (snails, hermits, and a cleaner shrimp).

I almost thought this was my post....mine was a terror. Killed everything but my other fish. I dropped 3 turbos in the tank and he killed all three by the time they hit the sand

Mines kind of a fartknocker...

But I love him. He did go after a few snails and had I not been watching him, he was going to get one of my hermits next. But I varied his diet, got algae sheets, wafers, shrimp pellets and frozen mysis and he's been happy ever since. He's beautiful and one of my favorites. :)

I have a large melaranus that will make quick work of any shrimp I would put in the tank. He tore a large cleaner shrimp apart within 10 min. after putting the shrimp in the tank. Also ate a couple peppermint that I had in the tank. It also completely wiped out my mini brittlestar population. I had 100's at one time, now I think they have been wiped out. Another problem with my melaranus is that it is constantly moving sand around with it's tail. Makes for quite the snowstorm sometimes.

I have one that I got small, started in my 65, now in my 120, eats frozen like crazy, I've never seen him mess with anything else after they established the pecking order. Him and my YT basically mess with each other, and leave everything else alone.
