Merten's Anemone Help

I just picked this little guy up. I've come across conflicting information as to this species' hardiness. Easier than a gig? Harder than a haddoni? I'd appreciate some info from those who have or currently are keeping this species.

Here's a pic i took of mine last Monday, fed it today for the third time since introducing to the tank a week ago -

They are easier then Gig's, and so far i've had less trouble with it's acclimation to the tank then any of my S. haddoni's, granted it's only been a week.
Attached to the rock i placed it on immediately and hasn't wandered. The mouth went thru a closed to open gape to closed again cycle for the first three days. Never staying open for extended periods, the activity reassured me it was ok and not in need of QT/antibiotics.
It is small ~4", must be the breeding season for mertens, they seem to be popping up here and there now.

OK good to know! Glad yours is doing well. Mine didn't take to the rock too quickly. It's also not very sticky. Time will tell. Mine is very small. 2" across. I hope the clowns don't love it too hard.

In general and iirc, mertens are not a sticky anemone, nothing like gigantea or haddoni.

I took a more accurate measurement today and it's actually 3", they are small and i'm holding off on adding a clownfish until it triples in size.

What species and size cliownfish do you have? Hopefully they'll ignore your anemone for now so it has a chance to settle in and acclimate.

When you begin feeding watch closely that it consumes the morsel without the clownfish swiping it first. I have already had to partition off clownfish so the anemone could eat. Also had to remove a established clownfish before that took to stealing its anemones food in order to save it's long established but now starving anemone.

I've got a pair of perc clowns in the tank, but they've been hosting their purple/green Mag for years now. I'm hoping they stay there while the merten's grows. I'll probably wait a bit before feeding, and even then just mysis. I've never been a fan of feeding anemones.

You can get away with that with E. quadricolor, never kept H. magnifica so can't comment there, i assume you feed the fish well and your anemones are getting their share. I wouldn't rely on that with carpets, they like to be fed.

I was going to start with PE mysis but the lfs stopped carrying it so i got a small pack of San Francisco Bay brand frozen krill. At the moment one krill seems to be the right size. In time i will feed it other foods. Two to three times per week.

What size tank? Are you running carbon or other to deal with possible chemical warfare between the two anemone species?
