Mertens

Hey everyone.
Getting a Mertens next week. Just wondering if they get sick and infected as easy as Gigs? Do you usually end up treating them like gigs when they come in?

Any and all anemones can get sick and most probably are especially in the larger ones. So if you're getting a new Mertens I would order cipro to have on hand ready to go once your new anemone arrives. No need to take any chances and not have it.

Yup. They tend to be pretty hardy nems tho

Mertens are more in relation to haddoni than gigantea.

I never treated mine. It's been exposed to sick gig bacteria too. Never treated or showed signs like a sick gig. I don't think they are affected by the same bacteria as gigs.

But I'd be on the safe side and be prepared to treat if needed.

in regards to flow, light and how hardy they are from my understanding. I don't think they are as susceptible to getting sick like gigs are. Taylor has Mertensii so he can probably comment on this better than I can.
