(This is probably a common occurence but since I'm still new to the hobby I thought it was pretty interesting):
Last month I completely rearranged the interior of my tank. During the process of moving everything some mushrooms became stressed and expelled some of their mesenterial filaments.
These were eventually retracted back inside but apparently at least one filiment fragment was completely discharged and released as I discovered it the next day attached to a rock on the opposite side of the tank (along with an even smaller piece of mushroom 'tissue').
Here are some pics of how that filiment and smaller piece developed over the last several weeks:
