The CSS 220 , is that the venturi or the needle wheel model?

It is a needle-wheel pump that is fed via venturi.:)

what is the skimmer rated for? my friend needs 1 for his 125 with 40 gal sump looking for somthing rated for 200 or more gal tank

It's rated for 220 , he said something in the "WTB protein skimmer" thread about it. I not sure bc his wording confuses me alittle bit , but I think he says he had it on a 110 and it wasn't enough for his needs.

Hey, I think the CSS 220 retails new for around $200 and I'd say it is worth it if you don't mind doing a lot of modifications. The one I'm selling ($50) is already modded with the mesh-wheel mod using enkamat, the venturi is enlarged, the airline is poly 1/4 i.d. tubing, volute enlarged a little, output opened up some, etc. I wouldn't DARE put this thing on a 220! I had it on my 110 for awhile and I could not upgrade soon enough, but I am a firm believer in skimming the crap out of my tank (pun intended). No you can't overskim if you are doing things right. I ran this skimmer on a 26g bowfront w/ a few SPS for 6 months. You better believe there wasn't a thread of algae in that tank, and everything looked awesome...

Edit to add: I skimmed dry with this one, you can adjust it to skim as wet or as dry as you want.

That's what I was getting at, sorry. My kids are running around like little maniacs and I'm having trouble concentrating. Ratings are almost always over-stated. I don't see how anyone can give you ratings because bio-load varies so wildly based on what you are keeping.
