Is there a link with a good diy page on the meshwheel mod....I have been looking at Kents, but its pages and pages long. Anyone have a link thats just the mod or that could tell me what to do. My mag 7 died on my skimmer and I think I'm going to try the genx 2400 with the mod.....any help out there would be great!

cut off all but 4 needles and drill 4 small holes in the needlewheel plate
cut a hole in the middle of the mesh
put on 2 or 3 layers of mesh on the wheel
tie it down with small zip ties
cut the zip ties down
and trim up the mesh so it's round.

Sorry no pictures.

thats a good start, I may have to go thru Kents thread, it was just huge so I was trying to avoid having to read each page..

That is the procedure. It took me a grand total of 10 min. from shutting off the pump, making the mod, and restarting the skimmer.

A good start, heck that is the whole procedure right there. Who needs pages and pages of instruction.

I just like to be exact when I do it, like do you leave 4 random needles or make a square shape out of them, where do you drill the holes, things like that...I guess pictures make it easier. I'm sure once you do it, theres nothing to it, but I want to do it right the first time so I dont' have to do it again. Also wondering about how much mesh and what the best thing to get it off of is. Hopefully my pump will be here tomorrow...thanks for all the help!

just found this page has a lot of pictures on it I didn't look aroound real good yet thought to see if it also has instructions.

BUt i would like to know if this mod works on all skimmers I have the corallife super skimmer needle wheel. would this mod help me and how what does it do?

sorry have never seen the mod before..

that's it pretty good instructions.

For the amount of mesh just put on 3 or 4 sheets. You can always take some off. Just cut it down with scissors.

For the 4 needles, make it like a square. one on each quarter.

I just did it tonight

it took about 9 minutes (literally)

unfortunately kent's thread basically turned into a 40 page DIY skimmer thread, so its very difficult to get the picture for this mod

the link that breutus posted is perfect, I just followed the pics and it all went super easy

if you have a dremel to cut the needles off the needlewheel, use that, I used my dremel and I couldnt imagine doing it without it
