Metal Halide for 30" depth

I was planning on putting 2x 250 watt Metal Halide on my 150 gallon tank with a 30" water column and also running some PC in addition. Do you think this is the right choice or should I get the 400 watt halides?

Thanks

maybe its overkill but i just ordered 3 250 watt mh retrofits to place into an existing setup in which i will retain 2 96 watt 03 actinics and 2 96 watt 50/50's.

Btw this is for my 125 6 foot reef.

On the other hand.... i have a single 400 watt on my 60 gallon hex and it has worked wonderfully for the depth which is similar to yours.

If your doing primarily SPS, go 400's. Mixed, 250's. I'm running 175's with softies and LPS, and it's fine.

Thanks,
I have a mix of corals in my tank, would you do the single or double end bulbs. My understanding is that the double end bulbs produce less heat? I live in an area were heat is an issue. One more question, Would you go with 10 14 or 20K bulbs?

Thanks
Mike
