metal halide on 46 gal bow

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone uses a metal halide on a 46 gal bow front tank? The reason I am asking is the bow tank has the brace in the center of the tank and the Current USA fixture I was going to use has the bulb in the center of the light, so it will be directly over the plastic brace, I am wondering since the bulb generates so much heat do I have to worry about it melting or being compromised?

Even if it doesn't melt the brace...it's gonna cast a nasty shadow. Do a search for this and you'll see that some people have cut out the dark brace and replaced it with clear acrylic.

If you put a few layers of tin foil over the center brace it won't melt

That sounds better than replacing the brace. Do you use the tin foil method?
