Why should I dish out the extra 50 bucks to get a XM MH bulb over a eBay bulb? I know about all the claims of changing the peaks of the spectrum supposedly with cheaper bulbs, but will that effect the groth of algae? ty.

I will look up the link. Some one in here has posted it. You can truly see the difference in the light from xm to something else.
Ok I dug it up from a folder it is in Reef central online community archives. General interest forms lighting, filtration & other equipement 250 watt SE MH lamps compared.
Sorry it in in my note book so I can not link it for you . But it will blow you mind from what you can see to what you can not see.

cheap bulb is a cheap bulb i rather spend 50 more and get a good one

Also, the XM bulb likely comes with a better warranty.

I bought some Ebay MH bulbs before, thought I was getting good deal up until they crapped out a month into it and the guy would not replace them for me.

With halide bulbs, you do get what you pay for.
