i put it on today looks nice but the wood hood i made smells like its getting hot is that bad or normal

how close is the wood to the bulb ? if it's close to the wood ie with in a couple inches I would think that could be a possible fire problem down the road if not sooner.

you will need fans in the hood and some clearence around the bulb.

it wasnt the metal halide makeing the smell it was my pc

What was hot on your PC? Better check your fans.

the cooler you keep the bulbs the longer they willl last, Or so I've read anyways.

itw a full size fan its just the pc is mounted right on the wood
