Also, posted on lighting forum as well. Thought socal reefers may help me out on this one.

My current lighting is dual 400W HQI 20K radiums on my 120. The bulbs are 4 months old. I just noticed thqat my tank today is lit only on one side. Not sure why the case, so I unplugged the lights and let them cool down and then fired them back up. What I noticed is one light fires up and the other light flickers and then shuts down. Is this a bulb, ballast or wiring problem??? anyone experienced this before. not sure how old ballast is since I purchased it with my current set-up. Thanks for looking.

swap the the bulbs, this will tell you if its the ballast of the bulb.

Mark,

I told him the same thing and he is going to do that.

and Mark...Where's my pictures!?!?! I'm going to get you to take them one of these days

alright, here's the deal. I hate taking pictures of this tank. Its just something I'm not happy with. Things are fine and believe it or not I have not lost a single frag from you, I've just never been happy with this tank. My wife has the new camera up at camp, I have a new DL site and once she gets back I'll send you some pictures.

That Cap you gave me is growing like a weed, its football size right now. I've also lacked in my maintance, I'm just loosing intrest. SCE is killing me, I've down graded my lights and pumps but the power bill is still high, 350 last month. I'm working on the tank today and tomorrow.

BTW, Cole (my son) was give the official OK last Tuesday. The EKG, Ultra sound and blood work were all normal. No more worries here.

Right on!!!! Glad Cole is out of it now. THats most important. I am just busting your chops on the pics. I hear you and SCE. I was 575 and its KILLING me also. Takes away big time from a hobby to a major expense. I too have changed pumps and what not just to keep energy down. I am so seriously looking into solor to give SCE the finger, but some company just told me I need an 18kWh system which is like 100 panels. If thats true there goes that ideal. I was thinking a 5kWh system which like 25ish panels and 40K prior to rebates. If the 5 would do it for me, then it would pay itself off in like 3 years at these rates with SCE. I wish someone would come to our aid on this. I know pool owners have to feel the same we are.

the thing about the pool is that they run a single pump that's not all that bigger then one that we might use, plus they only have to run it a few hrs a day.

I'm with you, I'd like to hear from people who have hands on with solar power. I'll talk to the head maint guy a work. I know we have some solar power at wrok.
