Hey a buddy has a machine shop and as agreed to help me build a metal stand. It will be for a 65g cube with foot print of 2x2' with a corner over flow. Any suggestions in type of metal we should use and thickness. Things you guys wish you did or did not do. Also I was thinking of making the stand not exactly square but the corner with the overflow elbow inwards so it overflow pipes won't be too close to stand edge allowing easier access.

You can use 3/4 or one inch tube with a small guage like 14. This will not take as much, or as thick, of steel as most people use and there is a lot of overbuilding of stands. Just make sure that your welds are solid and you are level and you will be fine. I would not use any gussets on a tank that small. Leveling feet are a good idea. There is not a lot of weight there in a tank that size.
