So most everything else does great in my tank except for some other sps due to the lighting. Chalices do well. Montis do well even other cyphastreas.

Do meteor showers love a high light. I have gotten 2 now that turn from the green and red to ugly brown.

Here are my params:
This am
temp 77.9
ph 8.02
cal 450 mg 1250 (calcium usually higher)
dkh 9
nitrites 0 nitrates 10

Lighting is 4 vhos and 2 150w mh. I have though of upgrading to 250W MH but the chalices really seem to love this lighthing. I have other sps including an oregon tort, tricolors, setosa that area all doing well and have not had anything else brown out just the cyphastrea.

I keep mine in almost the shade, but very high flow and I even feed twice a week when the lights are on. My true tyree is very sensitive to alk changes, it my alk alarm. I also have an impostor shower that is bullet proof right next to it.

Nice avatar by the way! Love the new camaros! So does yours brown out with alk changes?

It's just strange that it's the only thing in the tank that has brown out issues.

Is this what you guys consider brown out?
The brown used to be very WHITE....

Well my polyps are a nice pink... And always have been... Just the brown used to be white... That was bought as a Tyree Metero Shower Cyp...

Meteor showers definitely like being in lower light environments. Although, I have experienced them browning out in extremely low light environments.

I am in the middle of a tank transfer (old tank gone, new tank building built) so everything is in stock tanks. The meteor shower was in the "sump" getting indirect light from a 23w CFL. It browned out pretty bad but the growth was impressive.

I guess I have not found a happy medium for them. I would think the lighting that works well for my chalices just does not seem to be enough. Thanks for the input everyone. It's so frustrating!
