Metro + Experience and Opinions Needed

I have a small Blue Hippo that will be getting moved from my 75 gallon tank to my 350 gallon display in about 7 weeks. It will be going through 4 weeks of quarantine and I am considering using Metro +. It has some lateral line erosion and fin rot so I am curious how effective Metro + is at aiding in the recovery of these. Any advice, opinions, or experience with Metro + is appreciated!

Fin rot is best treated with an antibiotic. I prefer a kanamycin product like SeaChem Kanaplex. HLLE is best treated with proper nutrition and good water quality.

Metronidozole is more commonly used for internal parasites and infections like Hexamita.

Thanks Chris! I try to feed a variety of nutritional foods and do weekly water changes to keep consistently good water quality. I had read somewhere that Metro+ helps to repair the slime coat of fish and the product description says it should be used to treat HLLE. Anyway, hopefully the move to a larger tank will help with these two issues as well. I'll keep working on nutrition and water quality though to see if I can improve it's condition.

Metro is most useful for protozoal internal parasitic infections. It's broadly effective against virtually all unicellular anaerobes, both eukaryotic and prokaryotic. For opportunistic skin infections like fin rot, it wouldn't be all that useful.

For skin infections, I tend to go straight to enrofloxacin (baytril). It is potent, and rarely resisted.
