Mexican Turbo Snails

If anyone has or knows a LFS that has a few let me know. I have some cotton candy algae that I am battling. Research shows Mexican turbos are the only ones that eat it.

Thanks guys!

Kevin

I found some really small ones (size of a dime) at FishTown USA, Flushing NY last week. Hard to find small ones that do not plow down corals.

Ugh that would be perfect, especially since I have a 28g. But I don't see myself going out to flushing. Wish it were closer. I'm in eastern LI.

I'll be at Aquarium Village tomorrow and let you know if they have any if you haven't checked with them yet.

Have not checked there, a little far. I was recently at country critters, aqua hut, tropical island, and Caribbean blue with no luck. Any one have any experience with this stuff? I am wondering what else could possibly eat it? Maybe a tuxedo urchin? Don't want to add anything that would compromise my reef though, obviously.

Hey guys,

Still looking for these. Really don't want to spend $70 on LiveAqauria for snails. If anyone sees them in any of the LFS, please let me know. I believe they are my only solution to eat some of this cotton candy algae. Manual removal is tough, as any fragments that float around the tank will latch on to the closest object and begin to grow.

Pretty sure aqua hut had them the other day. May not have been Mexican but the tanks were full and looked like turbos.

Thanks guys, I have to check it out. They have to be mexican turbos. Regular turbos will not touch cotton candy algae. Does aqua have a phone? I think in the past they had one but it was never answered.

I spoke to my Caribbean shipper and the reason there are none around is the water in Mexico gets very warm in the summer and they are hard to acclimate . They had some this week and should start seeing them regularly :)

2 days ago I was at Fish Life in S Huntington, and they had a boatload of Margaritas. Pretty sure I saw some Turbos in one of the tanks, but not 100% sure. I would call before making the trip. Turbos should be coming in soon now that the weather is cooling down there.

I was at Pets Warehouse in Carle Place yesterday and they had a tank full of Turbos. Kind of of on the small side, about the size of a nickle, but they did have a lot.
