MH acclimation

Should new MH lighting be acclimated right away, or should the bulbs run thier 48 hours to burn in and then be acclimated?

Bulbs generally need about 100 hours to fully break in. I just added MH to my reef and I just put them in and ran them starting with 1 hour and increasing by 1 hour each day. Today is the first day with 8 hours of MH (which is where I wanted it) and everything (with the exception of some green/blue shrooms) are doing fine. I need to find a slightly shaded area for these shrooms, the sandbed directly beneath one of my MH is too bright for them.

I used almost the same method as above but I did it a little differently since I had PC's before the halides.
I starte out with 2 hours the first day, and everyday after that I added 30 minutes to it until I reached my lighting schedule.
