Currently I have a 150g 72x24x20 tank. Has nems and will be primarily sps. I have 3 175w mogul mh's with 4 48" t5ho's on it. I have a buddy who wants to trade me and I would be replacing the 3 175w mh's for 2 400w mh's. I would think this is a good idea, but would like some input, thanks.

It would be a great idea if you got a 3rd 400 watt fixture. You should have 1 for each 2 feet. I'd much rather have 400's than 175s if I was planning an sps build.

If your tank is only 20 inches high, there is no need to trade him. 175s are plenty, and you save on electricity.

175s will work fine for most any coral in that size tank....why waste the electricity and add the heat?
You'd be better off investing in quality reflectors if you don't have them already. Also, if you like a bright white bulb with a hint of blue, try nthe 175w Iwasaki. It kicks out more PAR than any 250w that I know of.

400's would b ok but your not gonna light the whole tank with just 2, u need a third

Heard good things about the 175w iwasaki, think Im going to stick with what I got and buy some reflectors and Iwasaki's. Thanks guys!
