MH HQI for a 20 Long

Hey guys. After much thought and consideration, I am just going to set up the 20L I already have to start saltwater. I have almost everything, except a light. So far here is what I am looking at.

JBJ Viper K-2

Coralife

I want a mount on tank because I have no room to hang one, and don't want to build a canopy. I def want to go MH, and I can get the Viper for about $180 shipped. Any suggestions? I want to keep some nice things in the tank, as I will use it to learn about saltwater, and start corals that I hope to transfer to a 75 or 90 gallon tank.

I've heard negative comments regarding JBJ Vipers. If I had to choose between the two I would go with the Coralife. A local fish store around town has Tank Mounted Coralife MH Fixtures and overall they work great.

I think I am just gonna buy a pendent and find a way to string it from my ceiling. This just worries me because of me not being home that much, don't want it to fall in.

Im gonna try out the viper on my new 20L so far so good just be careful with the glass very easy to break

I really say there are some down sides to both. I have a coralife and I have had to mod it just to be even more annoyed. I am looking into the hellolights retrofit. If you are planning to upgrade I would really recommend against clip-on lights. The are useless for bigger tanks anf you can get retros to be refitted for a larger tank, which is what I am planning to do this summer. Look at the retro and see if it would be able to hang from the ceiling or whatever by some wires like a pendent., but you seem to be ahead on that one. Goodluck.

i have the coralife 150 hqi on my 20h i love it the ballast gets pretty hot though, Crackerballer there is no way it can fall in unless you are reall stupid and dont tighten the screws or something like that

You could buy a 250w PFO mini and hang it.

I just sent payment for 2 250w pendents, 1 that I am gonna hang above the 20l. My boy is gonna take the other one if he needs it.
