MH light

I would think it would heat your tank up quit a bit seeing as its so small. Dont they sell a 70w mh for small tanks. That might be your best bet, but then again I have never owned a mh so I cant say for sure.

This light is on sale and looks like a better deal than the other one. At least the AquaMedic unit looks more well built than other one and cheaper to boot.

I just ditched the lights on my BioCube this week in favor of a 150W DE MH pendant. It's a lot brighter and I can now use it to keep just about anything I want.

What size is your nano? I had a 24 gal aquapod with a 70 watt mh, my honest opinion is 70 is far to small. I had all but a few sps brown out due to a lack of light. My new tank has 2-175 watt halides and the colors are slowly comming back. 150 watts should be ok, you might have to move the sps towards the top of the tank after they get use to the lighting in order to keep some of the color. Slovan your right that HIQ MH light lools like it would be alot better. By the way slovan hows your Bio Cube coming along? Any pics yet? I always like to see other peoples nanos. Are the lights the only mods that you have done to your nano?

Glaspie69 my nano is a 14g Bio Cube. Ok so a 150w MH would work for sps but would it work on clams?

I'll have to snap a few pics tomorrow. Honestly though, the nano isn't much to look at yet. I haven't dedicated the time to make it better. It has pretty much been a holding tank for corals before I put them in the 210.

I do have two black perculas, an RBTA, frogspawns and some rhodactis mushrooms in there.

Sometime soon, I'm going to switch out that little Oceanic return pump and put a Maxijet 1200 on there. Other than that, I don't think I can do too much more to it.

Here's a picture of the nano from today. Believe it or not, the bulb is supposed to be a 20K. I'd really hate to see what a 10K bulb would look like it in there. IMO, this is a 10K look as it's really a bright white with no blue in it.

Just ordered my new HQI Metal Halide.:D Heres a link to the light I bought for my 14g nano.
light I got the 150w. You guys think that will be bright enough for SPS and may be a small clam? Man I can't wait to ditch those crappy factory lights.

I think that will be fine for pretty much anything you want in that tank! Be sure to slowly acclimate everything to the increased lighting otherwise you'll fry everything!

Nice lights! :) Looks like a better choice than the first one you were looking at. I would've gotten the Aqua Medic one like you but got something else instead because I got to choose a bulb other than the 10K that comes with it. I like my tanks with a little blue so I had to pay the price.

Congrats and let us know how you like it when you get it hooked up.

I've read you can do it a couple of ways. You can hang your lights higher above your tank than normal for a few weeks and slowly lower them over that time. Or you can use several layers of screencloth over the tank and remove them over a period of time.

Personally I have never acclimated anything to the changing of lights.
