MH Pendant Lens Part?

Guys,

I have some older bell shaped MH pendants and the lenses in them are starting to show their age (brown spot in the middle, some cracking). Do you sell replacements? I can't tell what kind of material this is. I would go buy some regular acrylic at Home Depot or something but my fear is they would melt.

Any assistance would be appreciated!

Thanks,

-Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I bet that is standard acrylic, but ordering actual replacements might not be a bad idea just in case.

Do you get any water splashing on your lenses now? If not, have you thought about removing them all together? I'm assuming they are screw in mogule halide bulbs you are using, not hqi DE bulbs. If so, you can run without the lens. We have found you usually get better results with the corals, because the acrylic can absorb a little bit of the UV rays. So you might think about that, this is how we run all of our screw in halides, no shields. We have a good amount of space between fixtures and tank too though.

thanks

I may consider running without them then. I am such a nervous wreck worrying about the bulbs breaking if I get splashback though I am just not sure.

Any chance you guys can order replacement lenses for me? Just weighing out all my options here I guess.

Thanks!

Hi Jeff,

That is certainly something to think about, if they did break the glass would go in the water. They can take a fair amount of splash.

We can special order the lens for you as well.

thanks
