Possibly. Your chances would be better with no hood and a cool ambient room temp say maybe in a basement. I run a 120 with 2-250 halides in my basement and my heater does occasionally comes on. It greatly depends on how the lights are mounted.
they would be mounted on a hood. i have been debating on getting MH/T5HO or LED/T5HO just know that MH has some amazing growth and color for sps dom tank
I have 2 250 and two hydras over a rimless. No chiller, however if I keep the house at 76 or higher, the controller will start shutting down lights after about 6 or 7 hrs
I also run a 120g with 2x250w MH with no heat issues and have also run a 75g with 2x250w MH in the past with no issues but did use a fan on a controller. Benefit of being in a dry climate. Evaporative cooling is your friend and can really remove heat from a tank.
Mine is topless. I suspect if I had a hood my situation would be worse, although I think I could get by without a chiller by fans and adjusting run times
so did some searching and found a MH/T5HO combo fixture with mounting legs to sit on top of the tank and i can just take the hood off. what is everyones opinion of this light?
