Miami Orchid Acro not growing

I have a Miami Orchid acro the size of a hand. It was growing nicely like a tree on a rock with some good encrusting. About 6 months ago I bumped it and it broke right at the base above the encrusting. I put the tree and the rock back into the reef at the same level about 4 inches apart. In 6 months the encrusting on the rock has grown like a weed. It has in excess of 20 nice 1 inch plus stems on it, but the tree just sits there browned out. Any ideas on how to get the tree to start growing again? Should I frag the branches on their sides to get them to encrust?
Cheers! Mark

I would. Acros can be sensitive to flow patterns, and moving a full colony from where it grew naturally may have created issues. Fragging into smaller pieces may allow the frags to "grow with the flow" so to speak.

Agree. I'd chop it up and sell most of it, knowing you have a healthy specimen still in the tank
