I am having a problem with micro-bubbles in DT and Sump. I have a 90g FOWLR DT and a 20g Long Sump. I recently took the sump out to clean it good and shift it to the opposite side of my stand for better access. I did not have a micro bubble issue before i took the sump out below is what I changed while the sump was out.
-Drain from DT was rerouted for a more direct path used to go down from DT to a 90 deg elbow that let out right at water level. Now it drains down to a 45 deg elbow and straight down into sump letting out downward about a inch below water level.
-Skimmer was completely cleaned and dried over night (possible that the slime buildup is causing micro bubbles? I did turn skimmer off and seemed to have no change on micro bubble production.)
-Return line was extended to reach the pump. (Only change was the rubber hose was extended from about 1 foot to about 2.5 feet.)
Is it possible after cleaning my pump and pipes the flow is too high causing micro bubbles as it drains into sump at a high rate of speed? Sump configuration is exactly the same as before. This is how my sump is set up.
Section 1 - Drain 1 /4" pvc + Skimmer
Bubble trap
Section 2 - Fuge with life rock and chaeto
Section 3 - Return Pump 3/4" PVC
I am running a EHEIM 1260 640 GPH
Any ideas? Thank You for the help in advance!
