Micromussa/Acan Problems

In the past couple of months, my micros and acans have not been hydrating at all. Up until then, they were growing well and were happy as can be. Some of them are starting to recede a bit and the polyps are slowly dying off. I've been doing iodine dips in hopes that it would fix the problem, but this isn't helping much at all. I haven't added anything new to the tank at all in the last couple of months. Anyone else ever had this problem? All my levels are normal and are as follows.
DKH: 9.5
Calcium: 425
Salinity: 1.024
Nitrates < 2
Phosphates - not traceable
Magnesium: 1325

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try dipping them in tropic marin pro coral cure. I had some that had tissue recession. It stopped and the coral recovered 100%. Man I hope you get this going in the right direction, you have alot of nice ones.

not sure mate....how old is your carbon? TMPCC is great...i personally don't use it, but i know lots of people who do.

Zach.

I agree with all delight do a dip in tmpcc. I've done that as well before. It stopped the tissue recession on my acans.

TMPCC is iodine. The instruction says that you need to put a lot and keep in the water longer than other normal iodine instruction. I think that's the different.

I used TMPCC, no luck. The way to safe my acans was to frag the bad part off. They healed in 2-3 days if the cut is clean. You can also cut and dip.

Hey Caddis, i was having a simmilar problem with most of my micros. 10 out of the 13 morphs i have were not growing but slowly shrinking. I ordered themfrom doc almost a year ago. I spoke to doc who recommended more feeding. The fish in my tank prevented me from feeding even when the lights were off . I took out 10 of them and put them in my fuge about 2 weeks ago and have fed them daily. They are coming back nicely. Hoping to put them back in the display in a month or so. Good news is blackjack has grown well in the display. Good luck Mike

Good luck. Cutting the bad part off solved the same problem for me a couple years ago. Mine seemed to grow faster after removing the bad parts.

My problem with these corals is a bit different. The one's I want are all in the $600.00 to $999.00 dollar range. lol

Update.
After dipping with TMPCC and a couple of 50% water changes, things are looking much better. The tissue recession has stopped and the polyps are fully hydrating. My "Tiger Eyes" colony was hit the hardest. About half the polyps had died. I ended up fragging it and followed that with a strong TMPCC dip. The fragged polyps survived and are doing well now. I also started to feed them more. I believe this has helped as well. I've been using a combination of foods. The list includes cyclopeeze, mysis shrimp and formula one pellets.
Thanks again for the help everyone, I was starting to get really discouraged.
