Microscope mount for Nikon?

All,

Does anyone know of a decent way to match up a Nikon d70 to various microscopes? Is there any way to do this while keeping a lens mounted so that I can change the f stops? I have a microscope / nikon mount adapter tube, but it cost $80, is difficult to focus and only fits one of my scopes. I was just curious if there was an easier way....

It's pretty simple really; I'm working on a book about fish diseases and I'm trying to find a way to get better digital photographs through my microscopes.
