Yesterday i purchased 6 sexy shrimp. I placed the shrimp in my 5 gallon ric tank. I have 3 rock flower nems in that tank as well as a ton of rics. I also had 3 pom pom crabs that i have had for a few months.

So here's my issue all my inverts died. I don't know why. All 6 shrimp-dead, 3 pom poms-dead, pods found floating dead, and im not sure about the snails in the tank. They are in the rock work or under the sand right now.

As for the tank. I did a water change on Saturday. Changed out 20%. I religious do water changes of 20% bi-monthly in all my tanks. Current water parameters are: temp 77, nitrate 0, alk-8.7, cal-410, ph-8.2 salinity- 1.024, Mag-1200.

Is there a disease the shrimp could have had?

Ive never used copper in any tanks or even had it in my house. The sexy shrimp came out of a tank housing SPS, and the water from the sexy shrimp was not introduced to my tank. Ill bring some water into LFS and have them check. Never tested for copper before. Is there test kits for sale for that?

did you wash your hands maybe there was something there. with 5 gal it doesnt take much to contaminate your tank.

that is definately odd to hear rich...could be anything at this point but the first thing that comes to mind is water parameters...have you tested for Ammonia and Nitrite?

Basically 5 years. I used all the sand, rock, and water from my main that has been running 5 years or so. The tank i set up 4 months ago.

I think i figured out the problem. I had a second tank crash most likely last night. This one is my nano NPS tank. Also had 6 sexy shrimp die in it. Blueberry gorg looks bad and so does my ausie spider sponge. Anyway this tanks parameters read fine as well. Along with the sexy shrimp i also bought Coral Food. I only used this product in these two tanks. I did not use in my other two tanks which are fine. I think i got a bad bottle of food. Sent a message to LFS and hopefully they will do something.

Was a sad day in my household. My daughter is 2 1/2 and dances in front of the tank and says "shake your booty". Today she came to me and said daddy why wont the shrimpies shake their booty. Thats how i found out they were dead. They were still clinging to rock so i didnt notice they werent moving.

Did you use any chemicals that target household pest invertebrates (ie bug spray, flea shampoo/ collar etc) in your house recently? Those chemicals will nuke your tank inverts as well if they get in there.

Nope no cleaning chemicals of any sort used recently.

Rep from the company that makes the coral food is going to test the food sometime this week. Ill update when he does. I really hope he agrees its bad food and gives me a check to buy new inverts. Plus that way i have an answer. If he disagrees its his company's fault then i have no clue why this happened in two seperate tanks.
