hey all,

I know the preferred is aquamend from home depot, but i have a three pack of this mighty putty sitting around and i'd like to use it if I can. thanks.

If it is NSF approved ( If is says its ok for household plumbing), it should be fine. Most 2 part epoxies, if mixed properly don't let much into the water column. I have used 3 or 4 brands of plumbers epoxy with no problems. I wouldn't do a whole bunch of epoxy in the tank with any product, just to reduce any irritation that might occur while its curing. Once cured though, it shouldn't cause problems regardless.

But wait, there's more!

Everything about it is almost totally identical to the marineland putty, i always wondered if they were the same exact product jus with different words printed on the identically layed out and colored packaging

I've been using it for a long time with great results. I heard the company that makes it was buying Aquamend back from Home Depot to repackage and sell it as Mighty Putty. I'm pretty sure it is the exact same stuff but I've only used Mighty Putty so I can't say for sure.

Interesting. Both my local Lowes and Home depot stopped carrying aquamend about a year ago.
