My old 75 gallon setup had me wanting more! I did not like the depth of the tank (front to back) and wanted a deeper look for an in-wall build.
I ordered a new aquarium from Miracles in Canada. 48x30x24 rimless with a starphire front panel. I also decided to add an Apex controller, salt/ph/temp probes as well as a module for my vortechs. I switched from AI vega to AI hydra 52's. Here is a list of my new equipment:
Apex Controller
2 Power modules
Salt/PH/Dual temp probes
WXM module
Apex DoS system (not setup yet, just arrived!)
Nextreef dual reactor
AI Hydra 52
Zeroedge 48 inch sump
Eheim 1262
Lifereef 36 inch skimmer (amazing!)
I kept my wall cutout the same so I wouldn't see the water line in the wall as I don't like that look. The new tank is much higher than the old.
Here is the heavy beast (lifted this out and into house by myself since I couldn't wait for my friends to get off work, wasn't fun!)
My old 75 gallon had to be moved to make room for the hole, bought a temp metal stand online, moved fish to smaller tanks and placed old rock back in tank.
Here is the empty hole!
The new stuff...
The old fish room behind the wall had alot of space but I never intended to spend alot of time in there, after my first tank lessons learned I knew I needed to upgrade it to make it a room I could work in. I also needed a more efficient water change system.
Here is the old room:
Here is the new room, salt mixing station utilizes two 50 gallon water containers plumbed together with an inline pump. The fresh water is on the left, salt on the right. The pump will transport fresh to salt and then mix salt and allow me to send salt into main sump for quick water changes. My reactor pump can bypass and send old water into an empty brute waste can. 35 gallon water changes weekly in less than 10 minutes!
The ATO pump (tunze) sits in the bottom of the fresh water tank and sends through the aquamedic kalk stirrer into the sump.
Tiled the floor for easy spill cleanup, painted the walls a neutral grey and mounted plumbing. Metal racks line the back wall for storage and my Apex camera's and network gear is in an HP 42U rack on the right (not pictured)
All apex gear is mounted to the back wall, plumbing removable for easy access for full cleaning:
Here is the front after three months:
