Mike's 8 Gallon Aqueon

Good morning all!

I recently downgraded my 25 gallon (with one lone clownfish and nothing else) into a 8 gallon Aqueon Evolve I had laying around. Mainly because it was too big for a tiny clown, and the fiance wanted to put the Christmas tree EXACTLY where the tank was :headwalls:

So, I set the 8g up on the kitchen counter, and realized that I didn't have the return pump for it, so I made a trip to Petsmart, but they don't carry that tank anymore. After a few minutes, I decided to buy a Maxijet600 and make the hole for the return slightly bigger. Now I have TONS of flow, a little too much honestly. The amount of water it pushes out makes the main display will to almost the rim of the tank, so I'll have to mess with the back chamber so it doesn't fill so much. The only other equipment it has so far, is the Aqueon mini heater and the factory light that came with the Evolve, which leads me to my question. Has anyone ever used a Wave-Point LED?

Here's the link to it on Amazon- http://www.amazon.com/Wave-point-12-Inch-16-Watt-DaylightMicro-Output/dp/B007ZK816S/ref=pd_sim_petsupplies_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=05AY7ED10118VA62Q77A#customerReviews

The LFS I always go to has an 8g Evolve set up with one of these lights on it, and it looks amazing. The owner has softies, LPS and SPS in there and assured me it would do fine, I just didn't feel like paying what he wanted for the light... lol.

Here's a quick cellphone shot of the tank after I added some rock and a small clean up crew...

So I ordered the light from Amazon, and with my Prime trial, I got free two day shipping! Installation was a breeze as well... All in all, best 60 bucks I've spent on a tank in a long time! The fiancé isn't entirely happy with how bright it is, and honestly it's a bit brighter than I expected. It's been a while since I've had a reef tank and I'm just not used to how bright they are!
