mille bleaching out?

I have had a colony of acropora millepora for over 6 months now. It really hasnt grown much. I have kept it on the sand since I got it. I decided to move it up to see if it needs more light to start growing. I put it up on top of the LR maybe 5 days ago. I think it is starting to bleach out. The polyps still come out of it but the color of the trunk is turning white. I have (2) 250 watt halides and a 260 watt 50/50 coralife light on my 75 gallon tank. Does anyone know the best place to keep a mille? Also, if I do move it back down toward the bottom of my tank, will the color come back?
Thanks,
Jeff

Are you doing anything different to your tank lately? Can you remove the colony quaratine, to check for parasites? If it's rtning or dtning, I would suggest fragging above the bleach line, could be bacterial infection, try lugols dip, or freshwater as last resort.

good luck

If you have moved it from the bottom of the tank to the top in one shot without acclimating to the stronger light at the top, then that may be the problem - too much light to quickly and the coral will expel zoox.

Some advocate moving the corals up gradually, but IMO the coral can take a while to adjust to each location, so the method I like is to move the corals where you want, and put a screen or too above the coral, removing a screen after a few days. You can put eggcrate over the whole tank, and just put pieces of screen over the coral.

Thats probably it obi-dad! Thanks. Ive wondered where to get that eggcrate stuff before? Do you know?

You can find it in the lighting department at Home Depot or Lowes. I forget what they call it, but it's not egg crate. It comes in big sheets.
