I am very interested in this fish but I would like to know more about it if any of you have any experience with them. The description on Live Aquaria says that they are extremely aggressive toward other tangs, and I am definitely going to have a purple tang in the aquarium so I would just like to know if there would be an issue in housing them together.

If not, what other types of tangs would you suggest to keep with a purple tang? I am looking for something that would fit two criteria. First would be obviously one that would not cause a lot of aggression. And the second thing I'm looking for is a fish that would really compliment the color of the purple, but also be distinct in its own right.

All of the mimic tangs are awesome fish but I really like the look of the pyroferus better. The tristis looks great as a juvie but the adults are pretty drab. Depending on tank size you could do a purple and a mimic, I would add the mimic first.

I've never had a mimic eibili but recently got a mimic lemonpeel and he is very docile. The color of these tangs is interesting as he is 5-6" and lost much of the yellow already.

I had one of these for a while in full adult coloration. Like any tang, they can be hit or miss. The one I had was definitely on the agressive side. The pyroferus I replaced him with was much more docile. Both were in my previous 150 gal. Neither one was over 6 inches. Here is a pic of the tristus I had.
