I saw one for sale on this weeks fish list from one of my distributors. Theyre pretty cool. If I had a tank set up for him , id get him!

If anyone is interested in keeping one of these, or any of the 'zebra' octos, I ask for caution.

From an upcoming article:

Even knowing about all the potential pitfalls of general cephalopod husbandry, keeping a wunderpus warrants special consideration (wonderpus and mimics are lumped together in the trade and called 'zebra octopus'). Many cephalopod enthusiasts feel that the wunderpus shouldn’t even be collected for the trade at least until more scientific research has been done on the species. The size of wunderpus populations in the wild is unknown, it is unclear what effect their collection will have on those populations, but it seems like there aren't many of these animals in their natural habitat. Little is known about what they need to survive in the wild, and even less is known about what they need to live well in the aquarium. After much wrestling with this issue, I urge even experienced ceph-keepers to think long and hard before bringing one into the home aquarium.

I would be all for these animals not being collected at all, however the current nature of the industry makes me believe that this is not possible. So, instead, I think anyone even thinking about keeping should understand that so far they have not lived very long in captivity and that there is a real chance that the industry can wipe them out like it wiped out the galaxy rasbora.

i remember galaxy rasboras... they used to sell in my shop like hot cakes...

I agree ,IMO its cruel to take sum animals from the wild and put them in aquariums.

I just think zebra octo's are sweet. I already have an octo and like him very muich and hes all i need.
