A thread in the general forum mentioned that a problem with using carbon was that trace minerals would be removed.

What minerals are removed by carbon? And are they removed in preference to organics? (or are organics removed by carbon in preferencve to minerals?)

IMIO, most any trace elements removed from seawater will be those that are bound to organics. By themselves, they won't bind much to carbon. These could include iron, copper, cobalt, zinc, etc.

It would not include calcium, magnesium, strontium, iodate, alkalinity, silicate, etc.
