Minibow 5 lighting

So I've just started up a nano from a minibow 5 and I'm working on modding its lights while it cycles... At first I was going to get a 20W 50/50 screw in and just let it be but then I thought... I'm probably going to want more light. Anyone have ideas on what would fit in the hood (about 12 inches of space lengthwise and I'd really like to keep the hood). Some other sources said ahsupply's 2X18 deluxe bright kit but that's been discontinued. Anyone know of a good cheap mod (less that $50 please)

You can fit a single 18w or 24w lamp in there. But will reuire some work to use the factory hood. Best would be to build a wood canopy and fit 1 or 2 - 18 or 24w lamps retro (probably DIY). Check www.nanotuners.com for some 18 and 24w DIY supplies. Or just purchase a 2x18w Coralife fixture.

I did do a 5 gal minibow with the 20w 50/50 and it worked great for softcorals.

My Coralife 2 X 18 recently died so I'm temporarily using a 26w GE daylight bulb on my 5.5. The corals seem happy but it's a bit yellow. I think that if you're not going SPS one or two of the 50/50 20w screw in bulbs would be fine for your setup.
