Minimalist Scape - Fish Sleep?

Im starting to plan my new rescape, and I want to go minimalist with it, my only issue is with my fish.

My fish currently ALL hide in the rocks during night time, cant see a single one out and about.

When I rescape minimalist, do you think there would be any issues with less rock in the tank?

Would they fight for the few sleeping spots, or do you think everyone would be alright?

I plan to add more fish soon, I doubt there would be fighting now, but when I do add fish, is sleeping space a big need?

Currently, 2 clowns, yellow tang, 3 b/g chromis, 1 pseudochromis.

Going to add some wrasses ect.

I have plenty of hiding spaces in my rock work, but my clowns and chromis prefer the corners of the tank. I can't speak to the wrasses, but your current stock list seems like it would be fine.

been runnning my system for about 18months as minimalist build...

i've see no issues with the fish other than the anthais seem to scratch a lot... but i've not lost one to date... also one had pop-eye and completely recovered so obv its not so bad in there...

given my tank is made up of cement structures, there simply are NO real hiding places in my system for fish... wrasse hit the sub-strate (most of them) and sleep there anyhow... but it's thin at 1-2" deep... tangs and others find ways to wedge up against corals and rocks, typically under something, but it's not the same as a pile of live-rock ...

anyhow, look at my home-page link/build thread and you'll see some FTS's to judge for yourself if it's minimal or not...

IMO, it's been no issue, though at first i did share your concern.

just reviewing your fish list and they are all what I consider aggressive fish... and I have none of those particular fish in my system... so maybe i'm not a good example for you to follow.

of course there's always the "just try it and see" method... :)
