Minimum lighting for softies

So I have a 44 gallon corner aquarium. Mostly just live rock right now with some ricordea and mushrooms with just normal out put T8s.

What would be the minimum lighting requirements if I wanted to add some more softies? Would PC be fine? T5? I'd rather not go metal halide....

How long is the tank? That will be the determining factor as far as what type of light you can use. If its like a hex tank thats not very long, you might be stuck with halides.

but assuming its not, pc's are the minimum that i'd put on there. At least a 2x65w. That will at least keep some mushrooms alive and probably green stars and xenia and kenya tree and the like. But more than likely they wont have very great color. T5's would be ideal as they give off a much nicer color and way better as far as light output.

holy cow, weird lol. I dont envy you! With that tank There's not a whole lot you can do unless you dont mind lights hanging off the edge by a couple inches. Like i said above, you'd be better off going with a halide with that type of tank (tall and not long enough for t5's). You can use that t5 setup, but dont expect much to grow, specially at the bottom, other than shrooms. You could do xenia and gsp and whatnot up higher, but they probably wont do as well towards the bottom,.

I wouldnt even consider pc's on a tank that deep and i wouldnt use that t5 setup unless each bulb has an individual reflector. That being said, its gonna be 24 inches so you're gonna get about an inch extra on each end.

If I set that 4X T5 light up across the diagonal I'm not going to get any hangover really...
