Minimum tank for foxface

So I'm looking to build my fish list for my new tank and I've notice a lot of the fish I like have mimum tank sizes. The one spot foxface is one that has 70 gallons. I have a 58 gallon with a 20 gallon sump so I'm wondering why this fish wouldn't work for my tank? The dimensions are 36" long, 16" wide and 21" tall. The 70 gallon is only a few inches taller, does that really limit my fish choices that much?

Even though a one spot foxface does not get as big as a regular foxface, I wouldn't put it in anything shorter than a 4' tank. it will still grow to 5-6" and that's too big of a fish in a 3' tank.

Sorry, I'm completely new to all of this so I'm just trying to understand... The foxface may have been a bad example but I'm looking at several fish on liveaquaria that are listed as 70 gallon minimums. One of which is the Bartlett's Anthias who gets a max of 3.5". So we should not go off total volume in this case it is the length of the tank? Most 70 gallon tanks are 3' long correct? The main difference between the 55 and 70 would be the 6" in width? I'm trying to make my fish list so again sorry for all the questions.

You might consider posting your stock list over in the New to the Hobby section. There is a sticky for input on compatibility that snorvich moderates. He has helped me tremendously with my stock list and helped me avoid some mistakes.

I don't know why liveaquaria and other sites use 70 gallons as a minimum size for foxfaces. These fish get every bit as big as some tangs and grow pretty fast. They're also pretty skittish in smaller tanks and make the tank look cramped. I wouldn't put one in anything smaller than a five-foot 100 gallon tank.
