Minimum thickness of HDPE for bare bottom tank

If I am using HDPE to cover the bottom of a BB tank, what is the minimum thickness you think would be effective? The bottom is tempered, so the only thing that could break it would be a sharp point on a rock, so i wonder if something like 1/16" would provide enough protection? Any thoughts?

I think folks go thicker because if you get too thin of a sheet it is not rigid enough and you can get bowing. With all the weight of the rocks in the middle, the edges can bend up allowing detritus to get under the HDPE.

I totally agree with Masterofnonsense.

1/16" would work for impact protection, but I'd recommend you try to find at least 3/8"
